Now ive been looking all day trying to figure out the savage!! Its a Model 99E in.243 win. With the rotary magazine. The serial # on the left hand side of the receiver is A259852. The barrel says it was made in Westfield Mass.

Fs Racing Buggy Manual Muscle. Sniper Central Savage 10 FCP McMillan full review. I never owned a Savage rifle. I’ve read reviews and heard other shooters sing their praise. Is when serial numbers became mandatory and Savage. And73 has 5 digit serial number starts a 1. Numbers and marks found on my Savage Model 24V.

Some websights/forums said there should be a 'boss code' that consist of two numbers and a letter, with the letter indicating the year of mfg, on the front of the lever somewhere near where the lever meets the receiver. I looked there isnt one and doesnt look like there ever was! I looked under the fore arm on the barrel, nothin!! The one website that crossrefrenced the serial number said it was built in 1924 but everything i read says that the 99E wasnt built till the 60's!

Then another said the E was built in the 30's then discontinued then brought back in the 60', but then it said that Savage didnt move to Westfield til 60 or 61. In 1949, Savage began stamping a tiny, lightly impressed, oval on the lower front side of the 'lever boss'. The “lever boss” is the extension of the lower part of the receiver into which the lever fits and rotates. Inside the oval, Savage stamped the letter 'A' together with other numbers which are apparently inspector’s numbers. On many Model 99 rifle this “oval” is indistinct or difficult to read as are the letters and numbers inside the oval.s The letters “O” and “Q” were skipped and not used due to their similar appearance. Here is a complete list of the Lever Boss Codes and their corresponding year of manufacture: A= 1949 B= 1950 C= 1951 D= 1952 E= 1953 F= 1954 G= 1955 H= 1956 I= 1957 J= 1958 K= 1959 L= 1960 M= 1961 N= 1962 O= SKIPPED P=1963 Q= SKIPPED R= 1964 S= 1965 T= 1966 U= 1967 V= 1968 W= 1969 X= 1970. The second 99E was made in four configurations.

The first configuration (introduced in 1960) had a schnable forearm, a pistol-grip butt-stock and no checkering. Install Cain And Abel Without Admin. It did not have a pistol-grip cap and had a hard rubber butt-plate. The 2nd variation (introduced in 1961) lacked the cartridge indicator and had a rounded forearm rather than a schnable forearm. The next configuration change was the introduction of pressed checkered stocks in 1966.

The final 99E version had a Monte Carlo comb and a heavily-grooved forearm. I believe Savage was in Westfield from 1960 through 1963. That would make your 99E either the first configuration or the second configuration.
